The IASSIST Africa Chapter is affiliated to International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST) which is an international organization of professionals working with information technology and data services to support research and teaching in the social sciences and beyond. IASSIST has a membership of over 300 from Academia, Government, Non-profit sector, Private sector all over the world.
IASSIST Africa chapter was officially launched in 2021 during the Ist IASSIST Africa Regional Workshop held in Kampala, Uganda. The Africa Chapter has membership of African countries which include Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa among others. Every year, IASSIST Africa Chapter holds a regional workshop where its members in that region come together to discuss and share emerging trends and issues affecting IT, research and data services. The 3rd IASSIST Africa Regional Workshop was held in Pretoria, South Africa 18th-20th October 2023.

The University Library, headed by Ms Angela M Mumo, the Director, Library & Information services is considered as an academic department due to its critical role in supporting the University Mission.
