Albert Byamugisha, (PhD)

Albert Byamugisha, (PhD) is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors- Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS). He is also the Senior Technical Adviser and Head of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at in the Office of the Prime Minister. He is also the Chairman of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Governance Council since December 2018 to – date.

Prior to this position, he worked as Commissioner and Head of Department- Monitoring and Evaluation in the Uganda Office of the Prime Minister (2011- April 2017 April when I got mandatory retirement from Public Service), worked as an M&E Expert at the National Planning Authority (2009- 2010),  served as an Assistant Commissioner in charge of Statistics, Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation in the Education Planning and Policy Department of the Uganda Ministry of Education and Sports ( 2000 – 2008), served as a Senior Lecturer and Head of Statistical Methods Department at the Makerere University Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (1993-2000). Dr. Byamugisha’s professional experience led to the design and implementation of a Government-wide monitoring and reporting system to provide semi-annual and annual reports to Cabinet on Government of Uganda’s sector performance and spending
